Nicholaas Chiao’s sculpture, shaped by the iconography of The Terminator and the specter of Judgement Day, interrogates the nature of angels: are they mere myth, or latent realities? For the artist, the advent of human-robots—sustained by water and solar energy, unburdened by sin—signals the emergence of a new angelic order, recasting the boundaries between the mechanical and the divine.
